Natural Body Washes

Have you ever heard of sulfates? Odds are if you are conscious about the products you use on your skin, you have.  However, many people aren't aware of the ingredients in their body washes or what they do.  Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a common product used in shampoo and body wash.  It's what creates the lather and suds, but it isn't great for your skin.  Sulfates can cause your skin to be dry because it is so harsh.  It is a chemical that can be absorbed through your skin, and really any chemical is not good for you.  So for those of you interested in trying products that are better for your body, keep reading for some natural skin care alternatives.

This body wash has a great lather but without the use of sulfates.  This product has 100% vegan ingredients and uses essential oils to add an incredible scent of citrus, with strawberry and raspberry.  Many of the ingredients in this product are from coconut or vegetable source.  This product can be bought from Pacifica's website and I have seen it sold at Sephora.
This body wash I discovered one afternoon walking through the Limelight Marketplace in Manhattan.  All of the ingredients in this product are certified organic.  Key ingredients include Organic Aloe Vera as well as Raw Shea Butter for moisturizing benefits.  This product is also scented with essential oils. Check out the website by clicking the link above for information on where to buy.

Burt's Bees is a brand embraced by many, not only those conscious about natural products.  The products are natural ingredients at a reasonable price and can be found at drugstores and places like Target. This body wash is 99.2% natural.  It has essential citrus oils and Ginger Root extract for a plant-based cleansing formula.

This body wash is made from Argan Oil which the company says works to restore moisture and pH balance of the skin.  It is also made with almond, safflower seed and grape seed oil.  This cleanser can be used as a makeup remover as well and because of the antioxidant properties it is age-defying.  It is paraben, petrochemical and toxin free! You can find this at Sephora or the company's website.
